This stamp is from the Permanent Serie about Sign Language ( Next ) issued by Uruguayan Post Office in 2012.
This permanent serie is composed by 6 stamps, each one showing a different letter from the word “Amigos”, that means “friends” in Spanish.
This particular stamp of the permanent serie shows the letter ’A’.
A sign language is a language which, instead of acoustically conveyed sound patterns, uses manual communication and body language to convey meaning. This kind of language it is used mainly by Deaf or Hearing Impaired persons ( Next ) , and also by the people who wants to communicate with this group of Persons with Disabilities or Impearment ( Next ) .
It also shows the letter in the International maritime signal Flags ( Next ) alphabet, which makes the serie useful for Navigation Aids ( Next ) related collections.
In this maritime signal code, the flag could mean the letter as said, and also a short useful message, that in this case is: "I have a diver down; keep well clear at slow speed"
Then, the Hand ( Next ) shown performing the sign could be the reason to include it in a Human Body ( Next ) collection.
And in a more conceptual way, the Communication ( Next ) topic is in the serie, in general, as in particular it concerns about Language ( Next ) , and the Alphabets ( Next ) .
Finally, the FDC of this Serie includes the Map ( Next ) of Uruguay in it design.
If consider that there are another topics in this stamp, that were not spot in this review, you are encouraged to telling me about them, so please do not hesitate to post a comment. I would appreciate your help very much.
